Questions
Frequently asked questions
Is Regenative Therapy a medical provider?
No. Regenative Therapy is an educational website and directory. We explain regenerative modalities in plain English and help you find independent licensed providers. Only a licensed clinician who has evaluated you can say whether any treatment is appropriate.
Is regenerative therapy FDA-approved?
It depends entirely on the modality. No exosome product is FDA-approved. Most umbilical cord/Wharton's jelly, stem cell/MSC, adipose-derived and amniotic products sold in clinics are not FDA-approved for the uses they're marketed for, and the FDA has issued public warnings about unapproved regenerative and stem cell products. PRP is made from your own blood but isn't FDA-approved as a drug for most uses. A few peptides are FDA-approved prescription drugs; many others sold at wellness clinics are not. Some red light and shockwave devices hold FDA clearance for specific indications — clearance is not the same as approval. Ozone therapy has no FDA-approved medical use. Ask any provider exactly what product or device they use and its FDA status.
What's the difference between exosomes, Wharton's jelly, stem cells, PRP and BMAC?
These are different biologic product types, sourced and processed differently — from a patient's own blood (PRP, BMAC) to donated birth tissue (Wharton's jelly, amniotic, umbilical cord exosomes) to a patient's own fat (adipose-derived). None is a substitute for the others, and none is FDA-approved for most of the joint, pain, hair or aesthetic uses they're marketed for. Ask the provider what the product actually is and its FDA status.
Can regenerative therapy cure arthritis, regrow tissue, or reverse aging?
No reputable source can promise that. Claims that these treatments 'cure' arthritis, 'regrow' cartilage, hair or tissue, or reverse aging are not supported by FDA approval for any of the modalities on this site. Be skeptical of any provider who guarantees results.
Is ozone therapy or IV wellness therapy safe?
Ozone therapy has no FDA-approved medical use, and IV wellness infusions are not a substitute for medical treatment. Ask about the specific ingredients, the evidence behind them, and any risks before you proceed.
Will insurance cover regenerative therapy?
Usually not. Most of the modalities on this site — exosomes, stem cell/MSC products, PRP, BMAC, amniotic and umbilical products, peptides, ozone/IV therapy, and most uses of shockwave or red light therapy — are considered elective and are not typically covered by insurance or Medicare. Ask the provider and your insurer directly before treatment.
How do providers receive referrals on this site?
Licensed providers can list for free, or lock in an exclusive referral territory — a ZIP code for one category, a ZIP code across five categories, or a three-ZIP region across ten categories — so patients in that area who ask about that category are connected to them first.
